During 15-25 August 2023, Sophia GED operated a study tour “Chiba University: Field Study on Thailand Society and Economy” for Prof. Hikari Ishido and 30 Japanese students from Chiba University.

In this program, we have been to different areas of Thailand such as Ayutthaya, Bangkok, and Chonburi to learn various perspectives of Thailand’s society and economy.
Start by visiting Ayutthaya to learn about history and Buddhism. Including the experience of riding an elephant, which has been Thailand’s beloved animal for a long time. In addition, visit the “Baan Koh Kerd” local community to learn about community life through many activities such as making insect repellent herbal water, making herbal compress balls, and making traditional Thai food and desserts. Including living with the villagers for one night.
Moving to Bangkok, Students had the experience of exploring the Bangkok area with Thai students from various universities and had fun together by exchanging culture between Japan and Thailand, learning about the socioeconomic situation in ASEAN and Thailand from an expert lecturer from Chulalongkorn University. Moreover, they have learned about social issues in Bangkok while going to learn in the real slum area.
Finally, we went to learn in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area, Chonburi. We visited Leam Chabang deep seaport to learn about the government economic development plan, Mitsubishi Motor Thailand to learn about the Japanese global business investing in Thailand, Institute of Marine Science Burapha University to learn about sustainable marine ecosystem conservation in the EEC area, and Pattaya to learn about the tourism economics.
Sophia GED is happy to be able to introduce students to Thailand in various ways and believes that they have a lot of wonderful memories back with them.
